![]() ![]() You still have to manage fuel, use AWACS and your own radar to get a good air picture, avoid ground fire and SAMs on ingress and egress, make decisions in very short time when plans go wrong. Simplified avionics don't mean simplified battlefield decisions. Ground war is modeled on a "unit" base, with different armor units slugging it out at the frontline, and your support makes the difference between advance or retreat. And all that is dynamic, and the campaign engine is very detailed (for example: blow up enemy cargo aircraft or warehouses or parked aircraft - enemy ground units or fighter units might have less ammo, less usable aircraft next mission). Or you might get jumped by them - Thirdwire sims are pretty good AI. You might be targeting a shipping lane up north (with tons of dumb iron aboard), and find yourself engaging enemy MiG-23 with Sparrows on the way in. You can fly Strike or SEAD missions (contrary to LOMAC), and the "Multirole" of the F-4 Phantom and A-7C for me is a lot more fun than the specialized F-15C and A-10 mission types in LOMAC. Also, you can fly so many different styles of Aircombat - early 62' campaign with Hunters, Super Sabre or Thunderchief - and up to a '79 campaign with A-10, F-15A, F-4F (for the German Air Force). That kind of dynamics are nowhere found in LOMAC scripted missions. #Download strike fighters 2 north downloadYou won't really need a mission builder (it's available as separate download however). For example I had a CAS mission in the A-7 Corsair where after successfully helping my own tanks defend against Sovjet T-72, an enemy Beagle bomber killed my OWN tanks as I was flying away from the job. Less Radar modes on the F-15.īUT: The dynamic campaign and random created single missions are TONS better than anything in LOMAC 1.02. #Download strike fighters 2 north manualThe implementation of zoom however seems a bit weird, since if you are looking BACK you need to move your head AWAY from the screen to zoom, if you are looking forward you move it FORWARD to zoom.īut I find it thoroughly usable and easy to use after all.Ĭompared to Lock On? Certainly not as detailed, for example Mavericks are targeted pressing "E" for next ground enemy - no manual slewing of the seeker. From what I gather, LOMAC does not allow zoom (only with Flaming Cliffs), Thirdwire uses 5 Degrees (all except roll). Thirdwire sims are the first I'm testing my freshly bought TIR4 on. ![]()
